One of the years I was blessed to be invited to another family's Christmas celebration I learned that you could make Bailey's Irish Cream. How funny it seemed that they made their own and each of the contributors changed their particular ingredient list up a little bit. Here what I find to be the most popular out there. I really see no reason to try to make this much healthier, admit what it is and enjoy! Ingredients
Instructions are very easy on this one. You combine all ingredients and blend on high for 30 seconds or until everything is properly incorporated. Bottle and chill. This will last for up to 60 days.
A Hot Toddy is a classic cold weather type of drink. There are several variations including the use of Gin, Rum, Whisky, Bourbon and even a virgin one using apple cider. Here's a classic recipe, I'd love to see your family's version.
1. Coat the bottom of a mug or an Irish coffee glass with honey.
2. Add the liquor and the juice of the lemon quarter.
3. On the side, heat water in a tea kettle and add the tea bag to make hot tea.
4. Pour the steaming tea into the glass and stir.
This is a cocktail my parents always had around the holidays and is still served at my favorite watering hole in Duluth Minnesota on Christmas Eve to all the regulars who stop in during the private party at the Green Mill.
1/2 oz simple
syrup or 1 tsp powdered sugar
1 oz dark rum
1 oz Cognac or brandy
Hot milk or hot water
Grated nutmeg for garnish
Separate the egg white from the egg yolk and beat them separately. Fold the beaten eggs together and place into an Irish coffee glass. Add the sugar or simple syrup, dark rum, and brandy. Fill with hot milk or hot water. Stir well. Garnish with nutmeg.
The holiday party my family's been going to for 38 years always has margaritas. One of the popular recipes over the years has been a margarita made with Corona beer.
Corona Margarita Ingredients:
1 12 oz can of lemon-lime soda (7-Up, Sprite, etc)
1 12 oz can frozen lime concentrate
12 oz of your favorite tequila
1 12 oz bottle of Corona beer
I would normally save the best drink for the end but since this one has been published before and really goes well for a variety of events I'm posting now. We have used this drink for 6 holiday parties this year, some of the clients were CHOA, Atlanta Ballet and Google. So what's in it?
4 Oz of Brut Champagne or dry Prosecco
1 Oz of Gran Marnier
1/2 Oz of pomegranate juice
garnish with a orange peel
Some of the greatest moments we share are connected to the Holiday season and of course celebrating with friends. One of the things that will always stay with you is that first Hot Toddy, or where you were standing in New York when you had a glass of egg nog or the celebrated Old Fashioned grandma used to make. No matter who's on your guest list you want to create at least one signature drink for your guests. I have a Christmas Eve party my family's gone to for 38 years where margaritas will always be in vogue. This years drink recipe will be featured over the next few days. From a champagne fizz to a twist on an old classic we will be sure to show you something worth serving your guests this winter!
